Vanquish

Vanquish is PlatinumGames' sci-fi shooter under the direction of Shinji Mikami of Resident Evil fame, finally arriving on PC with unlocked framerate, unlocked HD resolutions up to 4K and an extensive graphics options menu. The game's identity is fundamentally about speed and momentum: you play Sam Gideon, a government operative wearing the Augmented Reaction Suit, and the suit lets you slide-boost across battlefields at speeds that simply don't exist in other shooters in the same era.

Combat is the studio's signature kinetic action grafted onto a third-person shooter framework. Boosting between cover positions, time-slowing Augmented Reaction mode for emergency situations, kinetic melee strikes that vary based on your current weapon loadout, and a deep arsenal of high-tech firearms — all the DLC weapons included — combine into one of the most precise action shooters available. The enemy roster runs from robotic grunts to towering boss-scale war machines, all backed by AI built to read the player's positioning rather than charge in straight lines.

The SC-01 Providence space colony where the game takes place is gorgeous high-tech sci-fi architecture, optimized for the kind of camera moves the game wants you to perform. Multiple difficulty modes and an online leaderboard scoring system reward replay attempts, and the PC release adds full Steam Achievements, Cloud Save, Trading Cards and Big Picture Mode support. Voice, subtitles and menus run in EFIGS plus Japanese, mix-and-match in any combination.
