About Britannic Patroness of the Mediterranean
Britannic: Patroness of the Mediterranean is a virtual museum experience aboard HMHS Britannic, the third ship in the Olympic Class trio (alongside Titanic and Olympic). Unlike her famous sister, Britannic served as a hospital ship during World War I and was sunk by a German mine in the Mediterranean. The ship has never been properly recreated in this state since she sailed, and no one has seen her like this since.
The experience is the result of extensive research by the development team and leading Britannic historians. Users explore the ship at their own pace, discovering details about her story, architecture, and contributions to the First World War. The reconstruction is primarily educational rather than gamified: a learning environment packed with history.
The ship's rooms, corridors, infirmary spaces, dining areas, engine rooms and decks are all recreated based on archival photographs, blueprints and historian consultation. Information panels and interactive exhibits document the period, the ship's modifications for medical service, and the circumstances of her 1916 sinking. For Titanic enthusiasts and naval history buffs, the project provides an experience that no traditional museum can offer.
