About SimRail - The Railway Simulator
SimRail covers about 500 km of real Polish routes built from geodetic data, with track geometry, scenery and station layouts matched against on-the-ground references. Modern high-speed EMUs, long-distance trains and suburban commuter sets share the network with a flashback option to the 1980s sand railway of Upper Silesia, including the period steam locomotives.
Driving physics simulate brake systems, traction limits, energy management and adhesion at a level previously reserved for professional driver-training simulators. Different eras and vehicle types require learning different control panels, signal interpretation and operational procedures, and timetables push you to balance punctuality against safe braking.
The game's standout feature is multiplayer cooperation. Players can take control of trains while other players run the signal boxes, dispatching traffic according to schedules in real time. Equipment in the signal boxes spans different eras and occasionally breaks down. Real-time weather and in-game communication tie the whole network together, with the Unity engine handling wind-blown trees, puddles, snow drifts and animated passengers.
