About At Dead Of Night
At Dead Of Night blends live-action film footage with game environments to produce a horror experience that sits somewhere between a found-footage movie and a stealth game. Maya, a student, is trapped in a remote hotel run by Jimmy Hall, a psychopath who has tied up her friends and locked them in their rooms. Maya has escaped temporarily, but Jimmy is patrolling the corridors looking for her.
To get Jimmy to release her friends, Maya needs to uncover his secret. An ancient ghost voice receiver she finds in the hotel lets her communicate with the spirits of his past — ghosts that materialize around the hotel and gradually reveal the story of what Jimmy has done and what was done to him. Each ghost contributes one piece of the larger pattern.
The live-action approach is fully committed — Jimmy is a real actor performing across hundreds of recorded sequences, with proximity reactions, dialogue trees, and chase sequences all captured on camera and stitched into the engine. The result is unsettling in a way pure computer graphics rarely manage. Baggy Cat, the studio behind Contradiction: Spot the Liar, leans into the genre they've made their identity in.
