Athenian Rhapsody

Athenian Rhapsody is a comedic action RPG framed as a personal story generator. The pitch: every decision, action and event in your playthrough is recorded into a Rhapsody, a tangible record of your specific adventure. Two players' Rhapsodies can be traded, combined and read, with the game's online social system letting friends share, mix or delete each other's records.

The battle system mashes turn-based RPG combat with real-time dodging and WarioWare-style minigames. Many encounters can be resolved by either fighting or befriending opponents through pick-up lines, mean jokes, memory games and other strange interactions. Each character's combat profile is distinct, and the variety keeps action fresh through the dozens of hours.

16 potential party members are recruitable, each with deep personalities. Puzzles range from mind-bending challenges like Spell Richard and Feather Carry to the infamous 3x3 slide puzzle. Mental challenges, secrets, rabbit holes and suspicious endeavors fill the world of Athens. The developer describes the game as a souls-like platonic dating simulator with cooking-mama and WarioWare battle mechanics, which roughly captures the chaotic tone.
