Bright Memory: Infinite is the sequel to the original Bright Memory, both created by FYQD-Studio — effectively a solo development effort with technical support from external partners. The game blends first-person shooter and action gameplay to deliver a high-octane experience where mixing skills, sword strikes and gun fire produces magnificent combo attacks against the enemies you face.
The story is set in 2036. A strange phenomenon scientists can't explain has occurred in the skies around the world. The Supernatural Science Research Organization (SRO) sends agents out to investigate, and it's soon discovered that these occurrences are connected to an archaic mystery — an as-yet-unknown history of two worlds about to come into contact with each other. You play SRO agent Shelia across the unfolding investigation.
Combat is where the project's ambition shows. The trusted sword lets you slash through crowds of enemies and even repel their gunfire, while customizable guns let you swap between incendiary bombs, sticky grenades, homing missiles and standard ammunition depending on the situation. Skill abilities — slow time, dash attacks, telekinetic pulls — chain with the sword and gun work to produce extended combos that read like action-film choreography while still being driven entirely by player input.
The development context matters here. Bright Memory: Infinite is a sequel that took three times as long to develop as the original Bright Memory, with FYQD-Studio expanding what was a smaller project into something with full set-piece encounters, polished visuals and a complete story arc. The result is one of the most technically impressive solo-developer games on Steam and a genuine demonstration of what determined craftsmanship and focused use of modern engines can produce at independent scale.
