About BROK the InvestiGator
BROK the InvestiGator is a narrative-driven detective adventure that blends classic point-and-click puzzle solving with beat-em-up combat and RPG progression. The setting is a light-cyberpunk near-future where animals have replaced humans, the wealthy live under a protective dome against the polluted air, and everyone else makes do outside. Brok, a private detective and former boxer, lives with Graff, the son of his late wife, whose accident he's never been able to properly explain.
The game's structural ambition is to actually combine the two genres it claims, rather than alternating between them. You can solve obstacles with your brain — examining clues, combining inventory items, working out logical deductions — or with your fists, taking on enemies in side-scrolling brawler combat that you level up across the campaign. Many problems explicitly offer both routes, and the consequences of how you handle them ripple into the dialogue, the story, and the eventual ending you reach. An Easy Mode strips out the fighting entirely for players who'd rather treat the game as a pure point-and-click.
The scope is substantial — fifteen to twenty hours on a first playthrough, multiple distinct endings, a 23,000-line fully voice-acted script, two playable characters you swap between freely, and full controller, keyboard or mouse support. Up to four players can experience the adventure cooperatively via shared controllers or Steam Remote Play. Accessibility was a major design priority: BROK is the first full-fledged adventure game fully playable by blind or visually impaired players, with text-to-speech narration, audio descriptions of scenes and characters, adapted puzzles, skippable fights, and positional audio for combat.
