About Card Survival Tropical Island

Card Survival: Tropical Island is a card-based survival experience from the creators of Card Quest, set on a desert island where every aspect of survival — from finding food to managing your psychological state — is mediated through cards. You combine cards together to perform actions, drag them into specific zones to explore environments, and manage an unusually granular simulation of what life as a castaway would actually involve.

The simulation runs deeper than the card abstraction suggests. The game tracks body weight, calluses on hands and feet, stool consistency, sunburns, bug bites, sprains, fractures, abrasions, bleeding lacerations and animal bites. Diseases include fever, diarrhoea, nausea, headaches and rashes from the bacteria and parasites you can catch on the island. A complex psychological system tracks boredom, isolation, anxiety, depression and spiritual or psychotic experiences, with imaginary or animal friends and creative activities helping to manage your mental state.

The island spans more than sixteen distinct environments — beaches, jungles, grasslands, mangroves, cave systems — populated with animals you can hunt, befriend, domesticate or breed, and plants with culinary and medicinal uses you have to discover through experimentation. Skill progression covers woodworking, stoneworking, copper metallurgy, fibre processing, leatherworking and clay shaping, with food preservation through roasting, smoking, drying and salting. Character creation lets you set physical traits, mental traits, skills and starting conditions, or pick from premade characters. The game can take you from starving rags-clad survivor to prosperous island farmer with genuine sense of accomplishment along the way.
