About Death From Above
Death From Above is a single-player arcade drone game set during the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. You play a lone Ukrainian military drone operator working hidden behind enemy lines, operating your drone to seek and destroy tanks and armored vehicles, shatter communication lines, and recover stolen goods. The game is openly designed as both entertainment and activism — the developer frames it explicitly as a way to spotlight an issue affecting millions and to give players a way to support Ukraine's defense directly.
The gameplay is arcade rather than simulation, designed for accessibility rather than aerospace fidelity. There's no support for specialized drone RC equipment — the game uses standard gamepads, generic PC controllers or mouse and keyboard. Dynamic missions seamlessly switch between operator role, versatile quadcopter drone, and immersive FPV (First Person View) drone control as the situation requires. Mission variety covers demining and zone clearing, intercepting and halting enemy convoys, communication-line repair, and other operations drawn from real wartime patterns.
The sandbox map is filled with Easter eggs referencing real events from the physical and virtual battlefields in Ukraine, providing light-hearted relief alongside the serious subject matter. 30% of net proceeds support two Ukrainian organizations — Come Back Alive and Army of Drones — that provide non-offensive aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. After production costs are recovered, the developer plans to increase that share to 70%. Development partners include Aerorozvidka (an NGO specializing in drone warfare and aerial surveillance) and Gis Arta (a Ukrainian developer of military battlefield management software).
