About Hellish Quart
Hellish Quart is a sword-fighting game built on active ragdolls and real-time physics. You attack from four different angles using four gamepad buttons, with different combinations producing special moves and combos. When you're not attacking, your character automatically assumes a defensive stance with the autoguard feature, blocking incoming attacks. Timing, technique, speed, measure, and wits decide every match.
The historical setting is the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth of the 17th century. Character models are based on 3D-scanned reconstructions of period clothing, and the cast covers the most iconic sword-fighter archetypes of the era: Zaporozhian Cossacks, Polish Hussars, Tatars, Turkish Janissaries, Swedish Reiters, French Musketeers, and more. The fencing techniques themselves are motion-captured from real historical European martial arts practitioners.
The game is local-only multiplayer (two players on one PC, not online), with the developer noting it's still in development. Modes include cinematic story mode, arcade mode, safe sparring (wooden weapons or modern HEMA gear for training), quick fights, survival mode with online leaderboards, and local versus. Optional VR mode supports headset play for the most immersive fencing experience.
