About Mists of Aiden

Mists of Aiden is a first-person horror game built around branching nightmares. You play a young thief with a struggling family who's been convinced by his partner to take one last job — steal a rare jewel from an old Victorian mansion. Getting inside isn't easy. Getting out is harder. The house won't let you leave on a single attempt, and every time you make it back to the foggy evening, you return through the door again, knowing slightly more than you did before.

The nonlinear structure is the design's whole point. Each walkthrough explores a different part of the mansion and unfolds along a different storyline with its own ending. Five distinct horror nightmares are woven into the same physical estate, each rooted in a different horror tradition — mythical, supernatural, otherworldly, psychological — and the nature of the evil depends on which threads you choose to pull. Every route hides its own tragedy, and the deeper picture only becomes visible once you've seen multiple endings.

The estate itself is the other half of the experience. A huge Victorian mansion full of dozens of rooms and hundreds of details, woven with riddles, secret chambers and hidden passages that guard the memory of older tragedies — family drama, psychological trauma, otherworldly madness, all intertwined under one roof. Each playthrough reveals more about what really happened, both inside the house and to the protagonist's partner and the protagonist himself. The questions linger: why does the house pull people in, and what does it want them to understand before it lets them go?
