About Night At the Gates of Hell
Night At the Gates of Hell continues Jordan King's PS1-aesthetic horror work after Bloodwash. The game is inspired by Italian zombie flicks from Lucio Fulci and Bruno Mattei, delivering a blood-dripping, neon-soaked, flesh-rotting experience. King also took inspiration from early Resident Evil games, but specifically wanted a first-person take that requires headshots to kill zombies (which is difficult without fixed aiming) and keeps zombies slow and menacing rather than fast-horde.
You play David, a quiet man whose wife recently passed away, living alone in a seaside apartment when a zombie outbreak ravages the city. After collecting a few weapons and meeting other survivors, David realizes he must fight his way to the truth behind the apocalypse, gunning and slashing through hordes that only fall to direct headshots.
The city is escaped by solving puzzles to unlock new areas, collecting resources, and surviving the slow methodical zombie combat. 85 unique zombie models ensure you never encounter the same one twice. First-person survival horror gameplay, the gore the studio is known for, PS1-style low-poly graphics, a 70s-inspired disco soundtrack, and full voice acting fill out the package. The release now bundles The BOOTY CREEK CHEEK FREAK as additional content.
