About Paint it Back
Paint it Back is a nonogram puzzle game (similar to picross, paint-by-numbers and griddlers) wrapped in a charming framing: a gallery's art has disappeared, and your job is to use logic to paint it back. Each painting in the game is a unique nonogram puzzle, and solving the puzzle reveals the original pixel-art piece — restoring a lost work to its proper place on the gallery wall.
The puzzle layer covers 150 paintings across 15 unlockable rooms. Each painting is a hand-designed pixel-art piece that progressively reveals as you correctly fill in cells based on the numerical clues for each row and column. The difficulty curve climbs steadily, and players who want extra challenge can replay every painting in Normal, Pro and Master difficulty modes — with Master removing helpful indicators that make solving more straightforward.
Quality-of-life touches matter for a puzzle game played in long sessions. Undo and redo buttons make experimentation painless. Six player profiles per computer let multiple family members share the same install. Mouse, keyboard, game controller and touchscreen inputs all work natively. Steam cloud and achievements track progress across devices.
An endless Mystery Masterpiece challenge mode generates new puzzles indefinitely for players who want to keep playing after the main 150 are complete. Twenty achievements reward completion milestones. The whole package is a particularly well-realized example of the nonogram genre — accessible, attractive, generous with content, and designed to be played by both committed puzzle enthusiasts and casual evening solvers.
