About Pictopix
Pictopix is a polished nonogram puzzle game in the lineage of Picross, Pic-a-Pix, Hanjie, Paint by Numbers and Griddlers, with a strong commitment to the design principle that every puzzle should be solvable through pure logic without resorting to guessing. The game starts with small introductory grids and gradually scales up to much larger configurations across more than 300 colored puzzles, plus over 4,000 additional player-created puzzles via Steam Workshop.
Four game modes structure the play. Classic mode is the standard puzzle progression. Mosaics presents larger themed sets. Endless mode generates an unlimited stream of grids for players who just want to keep solving. Challenges introduce specific constraints — time limits, restricted toolsets, alternative scoring — for additional difficulty. A fun tutorial covers the rules for newcomers, and earning awards and achievements provides additional structured goals for completionists.
Quality-of-life features are thorough: useful hints for beginners, undo and redo for fixing mistakes, a zoom button for larger grids, the ability to temporarily mark squares, Smart Slide for drawing straight lines even if the mouse wanders out of the row, multiple save slots, the option to suspend and resume any puzzle at any time, mouse/keyboard/controller/touchscreen support, customisable interface, and 13 community-translated languages. A relaxing jazz and bossa nova soundtrack accompanies the puzzles. Twitch integration lets streamers solve puzzles together with their viewers, and a built-in puzzle editor lets you create and share your own grids through the Workshop.
