About Ratz Instagib
Ratz Instagib is an arena FPS built around the railgun-only instagib subgenre that grew out of Quake III and Unreal Tournament mods. Every player has one weapon and one shot kills — the level playing field is the entire design pitch.
The cast is railgun-toting rats and the maps are oversized household environments: kitchens, bedrooms, garages, basements scaled up to rat size. The classics of arena shooter movement carry over: rocket-jumping is a dedicated button, and movement speed matters more than aim precision past a baseline competency.
13 ready-made maps cover the base game, with a substantial library of user-created arenas extending from there. Game modes include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and the unusual Freeze Tag, where hit players are frozen and can be revived by teammates.
Unlockables are cosmetic: rat skins, beam types, frag effects. Stats and leaderboards track progress at the player level. The RatzEd map editor ships with the game and exports to Steam Workshop, letting players publish their own arenas. Small, fast, focused — the entire game can be picked up in 60 seconds and played hard for years.
