Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves offers the pirate experience as a shared open-world game. You and up to three friends crew a ship together, with no set roles — anyone can sail, navigate, fire cannons, or manage the bilge as the situation demands. The world is shared with other crews, who can be allies, rivals, or open targets depending on how the encounter unfolds.

The map spans unspoiled islands, underwater kingdoms, and the open sea between them. Quests come from Trading Companies that pay you to hunt lost loot, deliver cargo, or take down particular targets. Phantoms, Ocean Crawlers, Megalodons, and the Kraken haunt the deeper waters. Side activities — fishing, treasure mapping, hundreds of optional goals — fill the time between major voyages.

The game runs on a live-service model with Seasons every three months adding new features, plus regular in-game Events between Seasons. Each Season carries 100 levels of Renown with special rewards. The 2026 Edition bundles the base game with digital bonus media — the original soundtrack, the Athena's Fortune audiobook, and the Rough Guide to Sea of Thieves eBook — accessible through Steam or the developer's website.
