About Space Bob vs. The Replicons
Space Bob vs. The Replicons is a procedurally generated gravity simulator that tasks the clueless Bob with recovering loot and resources from the heart of hostile planets and hauling them back into space to be salvaged into materials for crafting and survival. As if that were not enough, an army of replicating robot bug things has chosen this exact day to launch a full-scale invasion, and Bob is the only one who can save the day.
The core mechanic, beyond shooting bugs and running around in panic, is a multi-functional grappling gun that can stick anything to anything: loot to Bob, loot to the lander, enemies to walls, enemies to bombs, and endless other combinations, producing constant emergent gameplay situations. Time travel is also a thing, somehow.
The game has two open-world modes, each mixing rogue-like and survival elements without being purely either. Invasion Mode is the story-driven mode with permadeath, where games last one to three hours and the full story takes multiple games to complete. Survival Mode is the more laid-back option, with slower invasions, respawning loot and a death-saving teleporter, potentially lasting tens of hours. Both modes feature score-based leaderboards, joined by speedrunning leaderboards added in a later update. The game models every object and blade of grass with polygons for strong performance and seamless zooming, generating a fresh planet system each game.
