About The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition is the remastered version of Bethesda Game Studios' open-world fantasy epic — a game that has won over 200 Game of the Year Awards and remains one of the most influential RPGs of its generation. The Special Edition brings the original game and all its critically acclaimed add-ons together with new visual features and improved infrastructure for modding and ongoing content.

The core experience is the open world of Skyrim itself — a vast Nordic-inspired province of the Elder Scrolls setting, full of dragons, civil war, ancient ruins, guilds, quests, dungeons and characters with their own stories and routines. The freedom to play as essentially anyone — warrior, mage, thief, assassin, hybrid of all four — and to ignore the main story for hundreds of hours in favor of exploration, side quests or guild work, is the franchise's signature appeal.

The Special Edition's visual upgrades cover remastered art and effects, volumetric god rays, dynamic depth of field, screen-space reflections and other modern rendering improvements. The result preserves the original game's design language while removing many of the dated visual limitations the 2011 release showed even at launch. The original game's character creation, dialogue systems, combat and skill progression are preserved exactly.

Creation Club support brings the power of Bethesda Game Studios Creations to PC and consoles. New quests, environments, characters, dialogue, armor, weapons and more — with Creations, there are no real limits to what the game can become. The mod community around Skyrim has produced an enormous library of content over the years, and the Special Edition's infrastructure supports both that legacy community and the official Creations program.
