To Be or Not To Be

To Be or Not To Be is Ryan North's chooseable-path adventure version of Shakespeare's Hamlet, the play, the joke goes, finally restored to its original second-person non-linear branching format. From here, what happens next is up to you.

You can play as Hamlet and pursue revenge for your father's death, as Ophelia and make scientific discoveries instead, or as King Hamlet Sr. and simply die on the first page. The branches lead toward hundreds of endings, most of them gleefully fatal.

Along the way the game is illustrated by a long list of well-known webcomic and comics artists, among them Kate Beaton, Anthony Clark, Mike Krahulik, Matthew Inman, Ethan Nicolle, Andrew Hussie and Zach Weiner, so each path you take turns up its own new artwork.
