About Henchman Story
Henchman Story is a narrative adventure where you play a beleaguered henchman working for a bumbling supervillain named Lord Bedlam. The premise: even thankless work has stakes. Week in and week out, you put on purple spandex, get beaten up by stronger people in fancier spandex, and try to scrape together a living from a healthcare-providing employer with a god complex.
The writing is satire — affectionate, superhero-genre-aware comedy that takes its ridiculous setting seriously enough to make the dramatic beats land. The world has colourful villains, heroes, fellow henchmen, and a love interest or two waiting to be found amid the punching.
Decisions matter. The game branches across 11 endings depending on choices, friendships, rivalries, and (with the right play) a possible promotion out of grunt status. The relationships you build with other characters directly affect the story trajectory.
Full professional voice acting from a cast with anime and video-game credits anchors the experience. Visual style leans cartoonish, the dialogue carries the gameplay weight, and the package is closer to a visual novel than a traditional adventure — which suits the comic-book aesthetic well. Indie release from solo developer Andrew Goulding.
