Broken Reality

Broken Reality is a 3D adventure set inside a parody of the internet circa the early Web 2.0 era. Supercorp NATEM has consolidated control over most digital services, and the game world is the metaphorical inside of that internet — geocities-style virtual neighborhoods, casino malls, love cruises, all rendered in deliberate Y2K-era 3D aesthetics.

Your toolset is metaphorical. A katana cuts ads into pieces. A camera reveals hidden secrets. A bookmarker teleports you to saved locations. Each tool corresponds to an internet behavior abstracted into a physical verb. The non-violent action covers exploring, solving puzzles, talking to characters, and progressing through the levels NATEM has structured to monetize you.

Progression runs on likes. Collect enough and you upgrade your account, gaining access to new levels and content. Arcade-style minigames and quirky quests interleave with the main exploration. The audio environments are richly designed, with dynamic soundtracks that respond to your progression. The whole project is a love letter and gentle satire of the kind of internet most of us remember from before mobile platforms consolidated everything.
