About Tales From Off-Peak City Vol. 1
Tales From Off-Peak City Vol. 1 is the first entry in Cosmo D's anthology series of first-person adventures set on, around, and under a single street corner — the intersection of July Avenue and Yam Street in the same universe as the developer's earlier games The Norwood Suite and Off-Peak. The setting is intentionally constrained: each Volume tells its own self-contained story while building toward a larger narrative about what's actually happening at this specific corner of the city.
Volume 1: Caetano's Slice takes place on a hazy Sunday morning. Caetano Grosso, a former saxophone player who now runs a pizza shop, is just warming up his oven for the day. Orders are trickling in, he needs someone to help with the deliveries, and you sense an opportunity. The thing is, your real interest isn't the delivery job — it's Caetano's old saxophone, and you're going to take it from him one way or another. Your pursuit of the instrument sets off a chain of events that pulls you deep into the hidden lives of everyone living within a few blocks of his shop.
The gameplay builds on the foundations of Cosmo D's previous games — explore the streets and surroundings freely, make pizzas, take photographs, push buttons, open drawers you're not supposed to open, and gradually lose yourself in an atmospheric musical score that integrates directly with the game world rather than playing over it. The neighbourhood is filled with memorable characters and dense secrets, and the open-ended structure invites repeated visits to find what you missed the first time through.
