Mutazione

Mutazione is set in a small tropical community founded by survivors of a meteor strike a century ago, whose descendants now live with whatever mutations the impact passed down. Kai, fifteen years old, arrives to care for her grandfather Nonno, and the game is structured like a soap opera — small days, dinner conversations, secrets that the locals carry around in the open.

Die Gute Fabrik built it around relationships rather than puzzles. You attend community BBQs, sit in on a band night, take boat trips between coastal areas, and gradually plant a series of gardens that grow into musical instruments — each species of plant contributes a sustained note or rhythm to the ambient score of its plot.

A creepy bird-figure keeps showing up in Kai's dreams, and the spiritual subplot eventually overtakes the medical one, but the texture of the game is the gossip and the gardens. The art is hand-painted with the saturated greens of a wet jungle, and the writing treats teenage exhaustion, grief, and pettiness with the same care.
