Nightmare of Decay

Nightmare of Decay is a compact first-person action horror game built around a single, sprawling manor that the player wakes up inside with no memory of how they got there. The house is multi-level, riddled with locked doors and key items, and infested with shambling zombies, cultists carrying firearms, and a long tail of stranger horrors that hide in the corners the lighting doesn't reach.

The loop is openly indebted to classic Resident Evil and the original House of the Dead, translated into a first-person perspective. You explore room by room, gather what limited ammo and consumables the manor offers, and use an assortment of melee and ranged weapons to survive encounters that are usually winnable but rarely cheap. Resources are intentionally scarce, which pushes the play closer to a hardcore survival rhythm than a straight shooter.

The game is a one-developer project, small in scope and openly retro in its presentation. A single play-through runs short by modern standards, but the manor is dense enough to reward careful exploration, and the difficulty rewards players willing to learn the building's layout rather than blast through it. It's a focused, intentionally throwback piece of horror, not a sprawling sandbox.
