60 Parsecs!

60 Parsecs! opens on a space station about to explode. You have 60 seconds before the nukes hit. Whatever (and whoever) you grab in that window is everything you take with you on a journey across the cosmos as captain of a woefully unprepared crew. The setting is the dark-comedy Atomic Space Age: Cold War paranoia, chrome-plated walls, cockroaches in tiny space helmets.

Once you survive the launch, the slower problems begin. Manage limited supplies (and hopefully unlimited wits), make difficult choices, chart expeditions to scavenge resources, craft survival essentials, and explore strange new worlds in a procedural, permadeath-driven structure. Soup shortages and other horrors of outer space become routine.

Keeping the crew happy is part of the job (they are less likely to kill you that way). Watch relationships grow closer or curdle, intervene before someone gets thrown out the airlock, and try to find a new home before everything runs out.
