About Age of History II
Age of History II is a grand strategy wargame from solo developer Łukasz Jakowski that spans the entire history of humanity, from the Age of Civilisations through the dawn of recorded history and into the far future. You pick a civilisation — anywhere from a major empire to the smallest tribe — and use military tactics and diplomacy to either unify or conquer the world.
The game is openly described as simple to learn but hard to master. Province-by-province conquest, alliances, peace treaties, revolutions, and population management all sit on top of a detailed world map with many historical borders. Terrain types, population diversity, and a richer diplomatic system than the first entry deepen the strategic surface.
The editor suite is the long-tail draw. You can build custom historical or alternate-history scenarios, create new civilisations, design flags, paint terrain, define cities and provinces, edit growth rates, customise diplomacy colors, and reshape essentially every variable that comes pre-populated. The Steam Workshop hosts a substantial library of community scenarios as a result.
Hotseat multiplayer supports as many players as there are civilisations in the scenario. End-game timelapse visualisations replay your campaign at high speed. A solo-dev project with the polish of a much larger studio.
