About Alien Isolation

Alien: Isolation is Creative Assembly's survival horror set fifteen years after the events of the 1979 Alien film, with the protagonist Amanda Ripley — daughter of Ellen Ripley — sent to the remote Sevastopol Station to recover the flight recorder of her mother's ship, the Nostromo. The crew arrives to find the station damaged, communications dark, and the surviving inhabitants barricaded against something that has been killing them quietly for weeks.

The game's defining design choice is the Alien itself. Rather than scripting set-piece encounters, the developers built a fully dynamic creature that uses its own senses to hunt the player. It hears noise, watches movement, learns from the player's behaviour, and cannot be reliably outsmarted with patterns because it doesn't follow patterns. You're underpowered and underprepared throughout — scavenging resources, improvising solutions with crafted items, using a motion tracker that helpfully reveals where the Alien is while simultaneously announcing your own position to it.

The rest of Sevastopol is no friendlier. A panicked, desperate civilian population is willing to shoot first; the station's android workforce has gone hostile in ways the game lets you discover at your own pace; the Marshal's office is barely holding the line. The detailed 1979-Alien-aesthetic environments are doing significant heavy lifting — analog displays, magnetic-tape audio logs, the specific industrial design language of the original film — and the result is one of the most faithful adaptations of a film's tone any licensed game has produced.
