The setting is ten years into a zombie infection, with long-established settlements collapsing one by one for unknown reasons. Manage their morale and relationships: they get depressed, fight each other, sometimes kiss and make up. Build a settlement around your chosen home with farms, hunting, walls and crafting stations. Combat is hybrid: directly control characters in third-person action view, or assign orders from RTS overhead view. Target enemies' legs to slow them or heads for damage, dodge or block in melee, equip ranged or close weapons depending on situation. The Invisible Strain is the new wrinkle: infected NPCs seem normal as they infiltrate your group and spread the virus before turning. Story mode introduces the world and mechanics with a hand-crafted story; Sandbox mode generates random worlds. Up to 4-player online co-op supported.

Empires of the Undergrowth is a real-time strategy game and base-builder where the strategy is happening at ant scale. You dig your nest into a hex-based maze of soil and bedrock, expanding storage rooms, nurseries and hallways out from a central chamber that hosts your queen, and the entire colony depends on her staying alive. Above ground, your foragers brave a world full of larger and meaner things — beetles, ladybugs, amphibians, hermit crabs, mantises, rival ant colonies — to bring back the food that sustains everything else. The pheromone system is the game's signature design choice. Instead of selecting individual units, you assign nurseries to pheromone groups and place markers in the world that direct each group's behaviour: scout, gather food, engage in combat, return home. You can specialise groups on the fly, adjust their rules of engagement, and shift strategies mid-battle as the food supply collapses, the surface goes dark, or another colony attacks. Learning to balance fielded soldiers against base maintenance is most of the macro game. Multiple species each fight differently. Trap-jaw ants leap into melee and replenish health on jump-back; leafcutter majors draw aggression onto themselves so allies can flank; wood ants evolve formic acid artillery, fired either as long-range bombardment or as a rapid straight-line spray. Special modes let multiple species coexist in one colony, which radically changes how engagements play. A campaign frames the play as a lab experiment narrated by a documentary filmmaker, with a persistent lab colony of mysterious Formica ereptor gene-thief ants that you upgrade across missions for a slow-burn metagame around what the scientist running the experiment is actually doing.

Pan'orama is a relaxing puzzle simulation where you create breathtaking landscapes using different tile types. Captain of Industry opens with a small crew of workers and a ship full of supplies on an otherwise empty island. The endpoint, several research trees and many in-game years later, is full self-sufficiency — launching rockets, building a space station, and mining asteroids for the rare resources that make your colony permanently independent. The path between those two states is a deep factory-and-society simulation that doesn't artificially separate the engineering from the city-building. The terrain itself is the headline feature. Every mountain can be flattened, every valley filled, every coastline extended into the ocean — the entire landscape is fully dynamic, and excavators reshaping the ground are core mid-game infrastructure. Open-pit mines reach deep ore deposits. Excess rock dumped into the sea expands your shoreline. Ramps and slopes let vehicles reach any elevation you build for them. Logistics scale across the same gradient as production. Trucks handle general delivery automatically, routing products to wherever they're most needed. Conveyor belts and pipes provide high-throughput direct connections between specific machines. A rail network moves bulk cargo across long distances when scale demands it. Amphibious vehicles and bridges let you expand onto adjacent islands. Each transport tier has its costs and its scenarios. Around the industry sits a real population: workers who need housing, clean water, electricity, healthcare and household goods. Keep them content and they reward you with Unity, a resource that speeds construction, enables powerful edicts, and lets you claim resources on the world map. Neglect waste management and pollution and disease spread instead. Exploration sends your ship out to discover other islands, trade with allied settlements, rescue refugees, and gradually weave a network of imports and exports — until the rockets are ready and the asteroids beckon.

Settlers are characters with individual skills, personality traits, religious beliefs, and preferences. A Swineherd named Grimbold might have unmatched Animal Handling and a Savage personality that makes him a strong Brawler. Craft The World mixes the colony-management depth of Dwarf Fortress with the 2D digging and crafting of Terraria and the indirect command of Dungeon Keeper, and finds a coherent identity inside the overlap. You command a tribe of dwarves — not directly, but by issuing orders to dig in specific places, attack particular targets, or construct specific buildings. They handle execution while you handle priorities, supplied with food, clothing, and the occasional magical assist when combat goes bad. Each map is procedurally generated as an island bordered by ocean, lava beneath, and sky above, with many layers of earth between the surface and the volcanic deeps. Day-night cycles and changing weather affect what happens above ground, and worlds vary in size, humidity, temperature, terrain, flora and fauna. Hidden somewhere in each island are abandoned halls and treasure rooms — incentive to dig methodically rather than just down. The recipe system is unusually organized for the genre: dozens of buildable items from house blocks and furniture to weapons, armor, ammunition and dwarf food are arranged into clear, accessible recipe trees. The threat layer is what keeps the fortress-building honest. Surface creatures — zombies, skeletons, goblins, beholders, ghosts, giant spiders — patrol around your settlement and occasionally form serious raid parties. Worse, monster waves periodically appear from portals, demanding strong walls, trapdoors, defensive cells, firing towers and secret passageways well in advance. As a divine being above the dwarves, you can cast spells to speed up movement, illuminate dark caves, hurl fireballs, find resources or even open small portals — a god's-eye power layer sitting on top of the day-to-day fortress work.

Startopia drops you into a galaxy of derelict stations left over after an apocalypse and asks you to bring them back to life. You rebuild each station to a standard that attracts different alien races, harness their expertise, and research new technologies in a battle of wits and cunning that the script keeps deliberately funny. Earnings have to be reinvested into research and upgrades to keep the coins growing. Detailed production stats reveal bottlenecks, while production limits and priorities let you allocate resources precisely. While you are away, the game earns Time Tokens you can spend to fast-forward the simulation when you return.

Farm Together is a relaxed cooperative farming sim by Milkstone Studios, designed for sessions that can be five minutes long or stretch into hours without changing tone. You start with a small plot, work your way up to a farm that genuinely outpaces what the camera can show, and along the way unlock hundreds of crops, trees, animals, buildings and decorative items as your experience level grows. The tractor is fast, the to-do list is gentle, and running out of fuel is the worst thing likely to happen on a routine day. The central design choice is that time advances even when you're not playing. Crops mature, animals produce, trees fruit while you're at work or asleep, so coming back to the game is usually about catching up on accumulated yield rather than starting from where you left off. Sessions are open-ended; there's no win state, just steady expansion and customisation. The economy stays gentle on purpose — the difficulty curve is whether you want to optimise or just decorate. Multiplayer is the title's signature feature. You can keep the farm private, restrict access to friends, or open it to the public with a permission system that limits what strangers can do — so visitors can help without the risk of vandalism. Customisation extends to fences, paths, building facades, your avatar's wardrobe, the tractor itself, and the interior of your house, where you can cook recipes, paint or compose music when you want a break from the fields. A pet — cat or dog, customised to taste — follows you around as a constant low-stakes companion.

Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization is the third release in the award-winning Civilization IV line and a fresh take on the Colonization game Sid Meier first created in 1994. It rebuilds the Civilization IV engine entirely into a game about guiding a European nation as it settles and prospers in the New World. You lead your people away from an oppressive motherland, discover new lands, then negotiate, trade, and fight your way toward power and, ultimately, freedom. Playing as the English, Spanish, French, or Dutch, you handle advanced diplomacy with natives, rival colonists, and a hostile homeland, trading resources, gold, and land to build a self-sufficient colony. Founding fathers such as John Smith, Patrick Henry, and Samuel Adams join your cause and shape play around your style. A redesigned interface welcomes newcomers and veterans alike, multiplayer spans Internet, Play by Email, Hotseat, and LAN, and modding tools, including an XML and Python map editor, ship with the game.

About Colony Sim

Colony Sim — поджанр симуляторов про управление колонией: маленькой группой выживших, которые строят дома, добывают еду, отбиваются от угроз и постепенно превращают пустошь в работающее поселение. Жанр заложен Dwarf Fortress в 2006-м и переоформлен RimWorld в 2013-м для широкой аудитории. Сегодня живёт в десятке направлений — средневековых, пост-апокалиптических, фантастических.

Главный конфликт colony sim — <b>между ростом и поддержанием жизни</b>. Каждый новый житель — это плюс к рабочей силе и минус к запасам еды, а каждый кризис (зима, нападение, эпидемия) проверяет, насколько колония способна выжить без внешней помощи. Из этого вытекает архитектура: игрок не управляет персонажами напрямую (они работают по приоритетам), а строит инфраструктуру и расставляет правила, по которым колония живёт сама. Поверх этого работает системность — пожар может остановить кухню, остановившаяся кухня заморит голодом, голодные жители уходят в депрессию и не работают. Цепочки последствий длинные, и хорошая colony sim проявляет это во всём.
