About Chaos on Deponia

Chaos on Deponia is the second chapter in Daedalic Entertainment's beloved Deponia trilogy, picking up the wackier register of the first game and turning it up a notch. After the events of Deponia, Rufus appears to have grown prudent, amicable, kind and caring — at least until a flaming saw blade once again grounds Goal on the junkyard planet, accidentally splitting her consciousness into three separate fragments stored on three different discs. Once again, Rufus has to charm his way through everything.

The campaign is built around reuniting the three personalities of Goal so the pair can ride together to Elysium and save Deponia from destruction. The story leans on bizarre side characters, anti-gravity socks, torpedo dolphins, duck-bill aesthetics and the kind of absurd plot complications the series is known for. The sequel works as a self-contained story playable without first-game context, while fans of the original discover new aspects of familiar characters' histories and see open questions answered.

The presentation maintains the series' hand-drawn art design in full HD glory, with high-quality cartoon-style animation across the entire game world. The setting honors the tradition of Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett and Matt Groening — sharp comic timing layered with surreal worldbuilding. An elaborate soundtrack carries the atmospheric register, and the writing balances bizarre humor with surprisingly challenging puzzles from the creators of Edna & Harvey: The Breakout, Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes and The Whispered World.
