About Disney's Treasure Planet Battle of Procyon
Battle at Procyon takes the visual conceit of Disney's Treasure Planet — sailing ships that ride solar winds through open space — and turns it into a 3D real-time strategy game. The story campaign follows Jim Hawkins as a cadet in the Royal Navy, climbing through the ranks as he fights pirate raiders and the rapidly expanding Procyon Fleet, and eventually taking command of his own flotilla. Skirmish and multiplayer modes let you pick any of the three factions instead.
Fleet composition runs along age-of-sail lines repainted in science fiction. The Royal Navy fields torpedo boats, war sloops, escorts, frigates and the heavy-hitting StarHammer; pirates sail gunboats, schooners, assault cutters, carracks and barques; the Procyon Fleet trades durability for speed, built for hit-and-run engagements. Weapons cover laserball cannons, beam batteries, Gatling guns, harpoons, fire and net launchers, gravity waves, torpedoes and mortars across light, medium and heavy classes. A mysterious Ironclad Fleet surfaces later in the campaign.
Ships can be upgraded between missions — improved hulls, more experienced crews, reworked weapon loadouts — and individual battles add detail uncommon in RTS games of its era: docking, repairing, towing, grappling and boarding actions, plus star maps, panic fire, secondary control of a wingman ship, and per-ship waypoint chains. It remains one of the few RTS games to make ship-of-the-line tactics feel native to a space setting.
