Eldervale

Eldervale is a third-person survival horror adventure made in the style of early 2000s classics. Veterans of the genre will recognize many of its elements instantly, while newcomers get an accessible way in, with exploration and atmosphere at its core, supported by puzzle solving, combat, stealth and resource management across a 3 to 4 hour playtime.

The story follows Ophelia Delaney, a young woman haunted by the early childhood she spent with her parents in the town of Alder Stow. The Delaney family owned a large estate for generations, used for many purposes through the 20th century, and the horrible events that took place there remain unknown. Ophelia was forced to leave town and was raised by her aunt. Now, ten years later, she is tormented by suppressed memories and lucid dreams, and after radical treatments fail, she becomes certain she can only be cured where she was born, at the Delaney Institution.

The pillars of classic survival horror are all here: you explore and navigate creepy, interconnected environments with maps and consumables, solve puzzles to open new paths, and soon find yourself fighting, running or hiding from more than a dozen types of enemies. You piece together the past of the Institution and its residents, meet other characters and decide their fate, customize difficulty for combat, puzzles and a special random-events mode, and unlock multiple endings, alternate costumes and the Deep Reserves expansion. It is the passion project of a solo developer and devoted fan of the genre.
