Granny

Granny is a first-person horror escape game with a deceptively simple premise. You wake up in a dark room with a headache, the only light source is a flashlight on a table, and the main door of the house is covered in different locks. Your job is to find the keys and other objects scattered throughout the house, unlock the door, and escape — within five days.

The twist is Granny herself. She hears everything. If you drop something on the floor or walk on a creaking board, she comes running. You can hide in wardrobes and coffins, but if she sees where you hide, the hiding place stops being useful. Bear traps and other dangers — including her pets — lurk throughout the house. A garage at the bottom contains an old car that can be started for an alternative escape route.

The game offers five difficulty levels: Practice (no Granny, learn the layout), Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme. Two types of weapons can stop Granny temporarily. You can earn an extra day in the house by doing something for her, but the implication of failing to escape after the last day is left clear. The whole experience is short, tight, and built on the kind of mounting dread the genre's mobile heyday refined to a point.
