About Hollow Cocoon
Hollow Cocoon takes place in 198X Japan. You play Minato Jinba, a university student summoned home after his father reports that his maternal grandmother, Kinu Miyama, is in critical condition. Minato has not seen her in over a decade, holds her responsible for skipping his mother's funeral, and travels to the remote mountain village of Ichinose carrying that resentment with him.
The horror begins after he arrives. You hide from a monster prowling the family house and grounds, gathering evidence that points to the truth behind a chilling old story his grandmother once told him about silkworms unable to leave their cocoons. Meticulously recreated rural environments do most of the atmospheric work; the rest is paced reveals.
Four distinct endings branch off your choices, three difficulty options let you tune the experience (you can lower difficulty mid-game but not raise it), and motion-sickness reductions including FOV adjustment, a center dot, and disable-camera-shake options help with the first-person view. Auto-save and manual save both run alongside checkpoints.
