About House of the Dying Sun
House of the Dying Sun is a tactical space shooter that puts you in the cockpit of the Empire's most deadly interceptor and in command of the Harbinger Fleet. The framing is committed: your empire is dying, and the campaign is your reign of terror against its enemies — hunting them down across the stars, completing bonus objectives to earn special fleet upgrades, and slowly upgrading your warships with new weapons and abilities as you go.
The gameplay blends classic space-sim combat with tactical fleet command. You fly the Executor Mk II from the cockpit in gameplay heavily influenced by the titans of yesteryear — the Wing Commander and X-Wing series both haunt the design. At any moment you can switch to a tactical overview, give orders to any vessel in your fleet, pause time to consider your next move, or jump into another fighter mid-engagement. The combination of dogfight-scale combat and squad-level command gives the game an unusual flexibility for its genre.
Fourteen campaign scenarios each support four increasingly brutal difficulty levels. Replaying earlier scenarios at higher difficulties earns the fleet upgrades — the Gap Drive, the Kamikaze Chassis, and others — that you'll need to tackle the toughest content. VR and monitor support are both first-class, with the game carefully designed for traditional displays and HTC Vive headsets alike, plus 21:9 ultrawide compatibility. The whole experience is a small, focused tactical sandbox where decisions feel weighty and the campaign genuinely respects your investment.
