Mount & Blade With Fire & Sword

Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword is the standalone expansion that pushes the Mount & Blade combat system into the 17th-century era of firearms. The story is adapted from the cult novel With Fire and Sword by Nobel-prize-winning Polish author Henryk Sienkiewicz, set in the eastern European wars of the period. The sandbox formula is intact — choose your allies and enemies, decide which provinces to conquer and which castles to siege — but the introduction of pistols, muskets, grenades and other advanced weaponry transforms how battles unfold.

Firearms add a whole new layer of strategic depth to the franchise's proven combat model. Pistols can be used as sidearms in hand-to-hand combat to quickly drop foes who get too close. Muskets and grenades reshape siege engagements completely. Three main story-driven quest lines open up once the player has become known in a particular faction, giving the campaign more directed momentum than vanilla Warband typically offers. Multiple endings increase replayability across the political situations the player can engineer.

The historical research underlying the game is genuinely thorough — every aspect of the period equipment, military doctrine and political faction has been informed by primary sources. New siege options give players more choices before besieging towns or castles. Multiplayer adds the Captain Team Deathmatch mode alongside other new maps, bringing the thrill of old technology pitted against the looming threat of firearms to competitive play. Fully customizable armies let you outfit each soldier individually with the period weapons and armor you've researched.
