About NeverAwake
NeverAwake puts you inside the nightmares of Rem, a girl who cannot wake up. The bullet hell that pours toward her is themed around things she hates: broccoli, dogs, dentists, school friends. The premise sounds whimsical until you see the bosses, which lean fully into nightmare imagery.
The game runs as a twin-stick shooter with a unique scoring rule that ties retries to clearing the level cleanly. Over 80 levels and dozens of bosses cycle through phases that demand pattern reading and weapon switching. The retry system is forgiving enough to welcome shoot-em-up newcomers while leaving enough room for veterans to push for high marks.
Weapons and accessories slot together into custom builds, so the same level can be brute-forced with raw damage or finessed with utility. Hand-drawn animation across enemies and environments anchors the visual identity. The ending changes based on how much of the nightmare you actually clear, with multiple paths leading to whether Rem wakes.
