About STAR WARS Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords is Obsidian Entertainment's sequel to BioWare's foundational Star Wars RPG, released in 2004 with a substantially darker tonal pivot than the first game. Five years have passed since the events of the original. The Jedi Order has been hunted to the edge of extinction by the Sith, and the Old Republic itself is on the verge of collapse. The player character is a lone Jedi, exiled from the order, struggling to reconnect with the Force in a galaxy that mostly wants Jedi dead.
The game's central narrative ambition is to interrogate the concepts the first game took for granted. Where the original celebrated the standard Star Wars dichotomy of light side and dark side, the sequel uses Chris Avellone's writing to probe the ethical and philosophical implications of that dichotomy, with characters — particularly the morally complex Kreia — challenging the player's assumptions about the Force, agency and the cost of either path. The choices you make ripple through your companions, who can themselves be turned toward the light or the dark depending on your influence over them.
Mechanically the game expands on the first entry's d20-derived combat with three Jedi class options, deeper crew customisation, and the workbench and lab systems that let you craft and modify equipment. The game was famously released in an incomplete state, with substantial cut content; community efforts — notably The Sith Lords Restored Content Modification — have restored much of what was originally planned and remain the standard recommendation for first-time players approaching the game today.
