About Tetris Effect Connected
Tetris Effect: Connected is the Steam edition of Tetsuya Mizuguchi's synaesthesia-driven take on Tetris, which started life on PSVR and grew into one of the most stylistically distinctive entries the puzzle franchise has ever produced. Music, backgrounds, sound effects and the falling Tetriminos themselves all pulse, dance and shimmer in time with how you're playing — every line clear feeds back into the audio and visual layer in ways the older versions never attempted.
The single-player content spans more than thirty stages, each with its own music, soundscape, visual style and evolving background, plus more than ten gameplay modes. The Zone is the entry's signature mechanic: at any point you can stop time, freezing falling Tetriminos in place, either to dig yourself out of a near-loss situation or to rack up enormous line-clear chains for bonus rewards. It changes how the underlying game plays at every difficulty.
The Connected expansion adds robust cross-platform multiplayer. Friend Match Room IDs let you play with anyone on any supported platform, and the suite of modes covers Connected (three players literally link their Tetris boards together to fight AI-controlled bosses), Zone Battle (one-on-one classic Tetris with the time-stopping Zone mechanic), and Score Attack variants that pit two players against each other on separate boards. Spectator mode supports rooms of up to eight people with in-match emotes. The Steam version specifically targets uncapped framerates, 4K-plus resolutions, ultra-wide monitor support, and additional graphical options absent on console, in both 2D and VR play.
