About WolfQuest Classic
WolfQuest: Classic is the original version of the long-running wildlife simulation game about wolf ecology, with a single purchase now bundling both Classic and the new WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition. The Anniversary Edition features substantially expanded gameplay, larger maps, more animal species and a sophisticated new eco-simulation of Yellowstone fauna — but Classic remains available for players whose hardware can't meet the new game's requirements.
The gameplay puts you in the role of a two-year-old gray wolf born in the Northern Range of Yellowstone National Park. Your birth pack has taught you the ways of the wolf, and the campaign is the quest of learning how to live on your own. The journey begins on the slopes of Amethyst Mountain and eventually takes you across the Lamar Valley to Slough Creek, where you and your eventual mate establish a territory and raise a litter of pups — training them, feeding them, defending them against predators, and finally taking them on a cross-country journey to a summer home.
Success depends on your ability to ensure the survival of your pack, which means doing the actual work of being a wolf: hunting elk and moose, finding a compatible mate among the wild wolves of the park, holding territory against rivals, and raising young vulnerable pups through their early months. Multiplayer on WolfQuest 2.7 was shut down on March 31, 2025; single-player continues to work normally for all the pup-raising and territory-defense missions the campaign covers.
