About A Legionary's Life
A Legionary's Life puts you in the sandals of a Roman soldier during the years of the Second Punic War and beyond. You can chase a rise through the ranks and prestigious awards, or simply focus on making it home in one piece, and the choice is yours.
The game is a single-player RPG built on extensive attribute and skill checks, a turn-based combat system that weighs many variables, including morale, weapon reach, confined space and high ground, and a touch of roguelike design that includes permadeath. Your character will not be good at everything, so challenges must be picked carefully against your legionary's strengths and weaknesses, and a failed task usually means only a minor, recoverable setback to morale or relationships rather than disaster.
Death means starting over, but the game is built to be replayed: each run shows only a fraction of its content, and you can spend points on your next legionary based on how well your most successful characters performed. A free demo covering the first three of eleven parts is available to try before buying.
