About American Arcadia
American Arcadia is set in a 1970s retro-futurist city whose every citizen is being broadcast live, 24/7, to viewers somewhere outside. Popularity ratings are the entire social pressure — drop below a certain threshold and the show writes you off, which is a polite way of saying you're killed. Trevor Hills, an office clerk too average to be interesting, has hit that threshold.
The game cuts between two perspectives. Trevor's sections play in 2.5D side-scrolling platforming as he runs through Arcadia trying to find a way out. Angela Solano, a stage technician on the show, helps from the outside in first-person hacking sequences — she opens doors, redirects cameras, and shifts the world Trevor is moving through.
Out of the Blue, the studio behind Call of the Sea, layers the narrative as a documentary with interviews and police interrogations that reveal what happened after the fact. Voice cast includes Yuri Lowenthal, Krizia Bajos, and Cissy Jones. The escape pulls into territory neither character was prepared for, and the final stretches lean on the twin reveal of why the show exists and what Angela actually wants.
