About Florence

Florence is a short, complete piece of interactive storytelling — about thirty minutes long — that traces the arc of a young woman's first significant relationship from beginning to end. Florence Yeoh is twenty-five, stuck in a loop of work, sleep and time spent on her phone. Then she crosses paths with Krish, a cello player whose presence reshapes how she sees her own life.

The game tells their story through a series of small bespoke gameplay vignettes rather than through dialogue trees or branching choices. Brushing teeth becomes a rhythm puzzle. Conversations become tile arrangements. A fight is mechanical in a way that captures its emotional shape better than dialogue could. Each scene is designed individually to fit the moment it represents, drawing on the visual language of slice-of-life graphic novels and webcomics.

The relationship itself moves through the beats anyone who has been in a serious relationship will recognize: flirting, the first time the two of them help each other grow, the small things that start to grate, the bigger things, the slow drift apart. The game's restraint about what it shows and tells is most of its power — it doesn't overstate any moment, and as a result every moment carries the weight it should.

Florence ships with its original soundtrack and a short runtime that is exactly what it needs to be. It's the kind of small, deliberate experience that lingers far longer than its credits.
