About Golf With Your Friends
Golf With Your Friends takes mini-golf seriously as a multiplayer competitive game while remaining committed to the chaos that mini-golf demands. Up to 12 players tee off simultaneously online, which means the holes themselves have to be designed around the assumption that twelve balls will be bouncing around at once. Skills matter, but so does the wonderfully unpredictable interference of everyone else trying to do exactly the same thing in the same space.
The themed courses are where the game does its most creative work. Pirate courses lean into nautical hazards. The ancient theme stretches toward albatross attempts on impossibly long holes. The Worms-themed course wages all-out warfare with explosives, drawing directly from the franchise that name-checks it. Power-ups inject another layer of friction-with-friends — trap an opponent's ball in honey, freeze it solid, turn it into a cube — sabotage that's funny in the moment and ruinous to the standings.
Three game modes give variety. Classic mini-golf is the obvious anchor. Hoops swaps the hole for a basketball ring to shoot through. Hockey replaces the hole with a goal and turns the course into a competitive territorial match. The level editor lets players create, share and play custom courses, which has given the game an essentially infinite long tail of community content. Customization extends to hats, skins and trails for your golf ball — the kind of personalization that doesn't matter mechanically but matters for any group with a running tournament.
