GYLT

GYLT is set in Bethelwood, Maine, where Sally, a young girl, has been searching for her missing cousin Emily. A group of bullies chases her through town, and she falls into a twisted version of Bethelwood — a surreal otherworld where her fears and worst memories have taken physical form, and where the bullies have become something much worse than children.

The gameplay structure mixes stealth, puzzle-solving, and combat. You can hide from the creatures patrolling each area, distract them with sound or visual lures, or face them down with the tools the world gives you. Each decision corresponds emotionally to a choice about how you face your fears — running, hiding, or confronting.

Tequila Works, the Spanish studio behind RiME and The Sexy Brutale, brings their established sensibility for melancholy and emotional weight to a story about bullying, anxiety, and the impact of unspoken childhood pain. Cris Velasco composes the soundtrack. The campaign is narrative-driven and treats Emily's disappearance as the central mystery the surreal Bethelwood is built around.
