The base game pairs in-depth systems for diplomacy and production, with help functions that cut micromanagement, alongside a movement-is-attack combat model and mission-based air and naval warfare that allows logistical strikes and pinpoint bombing. A political system lets you shift your country's political base mid-war, and fifteen battle scenarios, both historical and alternate-history, are sized for an evening or two.

The Doomsday expansion adds a World War III scenario with an alternate outcome, expanded tech trees reaching into tactical nukes, helicopter squads and escort carriers, and an intelligence system tuned to 1950s tension. Armageddon brings naval attachments and the choice to scrap or upgrade old ships, land units that can be built with brigades attached from the start, and a reworked air-naval combat model with new damage algorithms that make organization matter more.
