About Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy is the open-world action-RPG set in the world of the Harry Potter books, taking place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 1800s — a century before the Harry Potter timeline. You play a late-arriving student who possesses an unusual ability to perceive and master Ancient Magic, and the story carries you through familiar Hogwarts geography (the Great Hall, common rooms, classrooms, secret passages) and out into the wider region around it.
Gameplay covers the breadth of activities a Hogwarts story requires. Cast spells, brew potions, attend classes, ride brooms and mounts (including the iconic Hippogriff), explore the Forbidden Forest, visit Hogsmeade, fight dark wizards. The combat system layers spells onto a real-time action structure where you switch spells on the fly, chain them into combos, and upgrade your talents to specialize toward the kind of wizard you want to be.
The narrative is anchored in a discovery: your character holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. Making allies, battling Dark wizards, and ultimately deciding the fate of the wizarding world plays out across a substantial campaign with branching choices and side content that runs the full course of the school year and beyond. The open world is detailed enough to reward players who want to ignore the main story and just live in the setting for sixty hours.
This edition includes the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest with an additional dungeon, a shopkeeper's cosmetic set and access to an in-game Hogsmeade shop. Newer features added across updates include Photo Mode, talent resets, and cosmetic items available to all players — the Glasses That Lived, Azkaban Prisoner Uniform and Coat, Onyx Hippogriff Mount, Felix Felicis Potion Recipe and Dark Wizard Brooms.
