About Inkbound
Inkbound is a turn-based tactical roguelike from Shiny Shoe, the studio behind Monster Train. The hook is that turns aren't classic 2D-grid affairs — you move freely within a turn, act in real time with your teammates, and ability use is rapid enough that turns flow more like an MMO encounter than a traditional tactics game.
The Atheneum is a magical library containing every story ever written. Each book is a portal into a new world, and each run drops you into one of those stories to fight off an unseen threat that's unbinding them. Classes like the Magma Miner and Mosscloak each play very differently, and characters unlock new ability draft pools and equipment slots as you progress.
Up to four players can co-op in real time, joining at the Atheneum hub and partying up for runs. Build crafting through draftable abilities, ability upgrades, and hundreds of items is the main long-tail draw — synergies escalate dramatically.
Released after a lengthy early access period during which the studio shifted from a live-service monetisation model to a more conventional buy-and-play structure. Solo or co-op, both fully supported.
