About Iron Lung
Iron Lung is set entirely inside a one-person submarine welded together from old space-station parts. The setting is an alien moon, the ocean is blood, and your job is to photograph a handful of marked locations in a deep trench before the sub gives out or something finds you.
The twist is the visual design. The sub's single porthole has to stay shut due to depth pressure, so you can never see your surroundings directly. Navigation runs on an incomplete satellite map, a proximity sensor, sound, and a primitive grainy still-camera you point out one wall to capture the photographs the mission requires. Every frame of visual information is filtered through layers of obsolete tech.
David Szymanski, the developer of DUSK and The Moon Sliver, built this as a deliberately short experience — under an hour from start to finish — designed around accumulating dread rather than jump-scaring you. The soundtrack draws from Aubrey Hodges' Doom 64 work. Resourcefulness, patience, and a willingness to sit with not-knowing are the only tools that get you through it.
