About Monstrum
Monstrum strips the survival horror genre back to its essentials and rebuilds the loop around procedural generation and a genuine learning curve. You wake up alone on a derelict cargo ship adrift somewhere in the open ocean. Three escape routes exist; you'll need to find tools scattered across the ship to repair whichever one you choose. And you are not alone on the ship.
Each run drops one of three distinct monsters into the environment, and each behaves entirely differently. One stalks methodically and ambushes; another patrols actively; the third reacts to noise in its own ways. Strategies that worked against last run's predator can be exactly the wrong call against this one. The ship layout itself reshuffles between runs — items move, rooms reconnect differently, and learning the geography of any individual run is part of the survival challenge.
The toolkit favors improvisation: hide in lockers and under furniture, throw distractions to pull the monster toward an area you've already cleared, use noise carefully because running too fast can drop you straight into traps. Death is permanent. The next run begins on a different ship layout, probably against a different monster, with whatever lessons you took from the previous attempt as your only carry-forward.
