About Paper Bride 2 Zangling Village
Paper Bride 2: Zangling Village is the follow-up to Paper Bride, a horror series from Chinese developer Soft Source rooted in regional folklore around ghost marriages and funeral rites. The story opens on the namesake bride: a midsummer ceremony, a gown of paper, a groom lost, a curse left behind.
The player investigates Zangling Village, a settlement steeped in unsettling occult practices, working through item puzzles and clue-gathering to uncover what really happened there. The undead inhabit parts of the village, and direct confrontation is generally a losing option — observation and patience are the survival tools.
Compared to the first Paper Bride, the sequel widens its visual range — more dynamic scene work, larger environments — and adds dialogue audio for the protagonist, so cutscenes carry weight beyond their text. Story clues have been extended to make the puzzle layer more legible to new players.
The game is heavily rooted in Chinese folk tradition and reads particularly well to players familiar with the genre, though English localisation makes the major story beats accessible. Short, deliberate, atmospheric horror in a niche the rest of the market mostly leaves alone.
